Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children

Jacob is an over privileged teen, living an unchallenging and insufficient existence. His only joy comes from his grandfather, who's childhood tales of living in
a WW2 orphanage help him to escape the daily monotony of life. His fantasy tales are detailed with impossible monsters, colourful landscapes and children
with superhero abilities, which Jacob naturally discredits until his grandfather's sudden and violent death. On the discovery of his bloodied and mutilated
body, Jacob catches sight of a shadowy creature bearing an uncanny resemblance to the nemesis described in his grandfather's stories. This experience and
following trauma leads Jacob on a journey to the orphanage to discover what this creature is, why it killed his grandfather and also investigate the meaning of
the cryptic message left behind in a long forgotten book...

I was drawn to Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by the eerie looking cover art of a solemn, doll faced girl levitating in the middle of a forest. After a
quick flick through the pages I was delighted to discover there are more similarly cracked photographs of other peculiar looking children illustrated throughout.
This being a particularly involved interest of mine,  It was obvious that I had to buy this novel and so far it's not been a disappointment. I'm barely ankle deep in
to the story but the winding tension already has me gripped and I'm very eager to see how this haunting tale develops.
